Mare

A family with three teenagers on the outskirts of Dubrovnik, Croatia: The wife and mother Mare routinely runs the household with modest means. But actually she longs for her own job and more independence. When a nameless stranger turns up in the village, it becomes clear that Mare is not only driven by material desires. – Mare was shot with classic 16mm film material. The format and the visible image window of the camera illustrate this.
Marija Škaricic hat schon in den vorherigen Werken von Andrea Štaka, Das Fräulein und Cure, mitgespielt; Mare ist nun ganz ihr Film. Die Kamera bleibt meist dicht an ihrer Figur dran, bildet ihren Alltagstrott, ihr Begehren, ihre Leidenschaft ab in jener speziellen haptischen Qualität, wie sie nur analogem 16-mm-Film zu eigen ist. Ein nicht umwerfend origineller Plot, aber wie Štaka das erzählt, wirkt er sehr frisch.

Déçue par son mari et son niveau de vie modeste, une ménagère et mère de famille à Dubrovnik, en Croatie, connaît une liaison avec un travailleur immigré polonais, reprenant ainsi un morceau de vie qui n'appartient à personne d'autre. Le réalisateur helvético-croate Andrea Štaka (Das Fräulein) charge cette intrigue d'apparence conventionnelle de nuances et d'atmosphère qui évitent ainsi le prévisible. L'infidélité devient un premier pas sur le chemin de l'émancipation.
